Partnership between Dacia and the Vocational High School for Car Manufacturing in Mioveni for supporting vocational education

On Wednesday 16 July 2014 a partnership agreement was signed between Dacia, the School Inspectorate of Argeş County and Mioveni Town Hall for establishing and supporting some vocational classes in the field of mechanics, for the toolmaker - puncher qualification, in the Vocational High School for Car Manufacturing in Mioveni.

The protocol was signed at the Romanian Government by Nicolas Maure, chief executive officer at Dacia, Dumitru Tudosoiu, general school inspector at the Argeş County School Inspectorate and Ion Georgescu, mayor of Mioveni, in the presence of Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta, the minister of National Education, Remus Pricopie, the deputy minister for Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technological Development and the director of the Vocational High School for Car Manufacturing in Mioveni, Ghiorghe Dinuţă.

This partnership refers to a collaboration between Dacia and the Vocational High School for Car Manufacturing in Mioveni with respect to educational activity and the practical vocational training of the young pupils. Dacia supports thus vocational education by creating two classes with mechanical profile within this high school, as follows: one 9th grade class with 14 pupils, starting with the school year 2014/2015 (graduating in 2017), and one 10th grade class with 28 pupils starting with the school year 2014/2015 (graduating in 2016).

The 42 pupils will combine theoretical and practical training by participating in the Dacia Plants at Mioveni as interns and having the possibility to perform visits at the Dacia plants. According to the internship contract Dacia will provide monthly scholarships of 200 lei to the interns, awarded on performance criteria. In addition they will also benefit from free transport and lunch as well as protection equipment made available by Dacia.

The graduates of these classes will have priority for employment at Dacia, depending on the company's employment needs.

In the past there were vocational schools which yielded generations of specialists in various fields. These schools disappeared, together with specialisations which the economic environment needs. Renault Romania already has a tradition in organising internship programmes (Drive Your Future) addressed to young undergraduates or master degree students, and now we take the next step and support vocational education institutions. We will be partners of the Vocational High School for Car Manufacturing in Mioveni and together we will adapt the school curriculum, we will establish classes with mechanical profile and toolmaker-puncher specialisation and we will organise internships in our plants. A closer connection between the theoretical and the practical sides is necessary when it comes to vocational training and we are glad to establish this partnership in Mioveni, close to the Dacia plants”, said Nicolas Maure, chief executive officer of Dacia and general manager of Renault România.

The toolmaker-puncher is one of the niche professional qualifications at Dacia, to be found at the Dacia Mould, the Vehicle Plant (Pressing Department) and the Mechanical and Chassis Plant (Aluminium Casting). Dacia has the only unit specialised in the design and manufacturing of moulds in the Renault Group worldwide, which makes it critical to attract and develop such competencies within the company.

In addition to creating the specialised classes Dacia will also support the Vocational High School for Car Manufacturing in Mioveni by a sponsorship consisting of technical means (machines, tools and equipment) to be used for training the pupils. Moreover, specialists from Dacia and Renault Romania will also participate in training the teachers and will get involved in courses so as to facilitate the assimilation of specific skills for the car industry.
