Alexandru Oprescu is the new Manager of the Dacia Powertrain & Chassis Plant, starting 1st of August

Dacia Powertrain and Chassis Plant in Mioveni (UMCD) announces changes in its management. 

As of August 1st, Alexandru Oprescu is the new General Manager of the Dacia Powertrain & Chassis Plant in Mioveni (UMCD). He replaces Phillipe Nottez, who has successfully led the UMCD’ s teams and operations since September 1st, 2013 and who will become the General Manager of the Renault STA Ruitz plant as of September 1st. 

Mr. Alexandru Oprescu shall report directly to Mr. Yves Caracatzanis, MD Renault Group Romania and CEO Automobile Dacia, and report functionally to Mr. Cornel Olendraru, VP, Manufacturing & Supply Chain Eurasia Region.

Mr. Oprescu was born in Pitesti in 1966 and earned an engineering degree from the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest in 1992. His extensive professional record covers different areas of top management and expertise in various fields.

Before joining the Renault Group, he entered the automotive industry back in 2005. He started working on the Mioveni industrial site in Johnson Controls where he managed successively the CKD department, the Continuous Improvement Department, Plant Logistics and Plant Operations, contributing to the Dacia Logan success story in Romania and abroad. In 2010 he was appointed JCI Mioveni Plant Manager.

His drive, leadership style and results promoted him to his next top executive position, as head of the Johnson Controls green field Plant in Craiova Romania. In 2011, while being based there, he was assigned international responsibilities and managed simultaneously the Craiova Plant and a JCI Plant in Sunderland UK and, then of a JCI Plant in Liverpool UK. In 2015, he moved to TRW, as General Manager in Roman.

Mr. Oprescu’s career includes also an extensive experience in the industrial and office telecommunications area with Worth -Triumph Adler, continuing for 8 years as General Manager leading a plant in the food industry.

Joining Renault Group Romania, Mr. Alexandru Oprescu will be member of the company’s Board of Directors Renault Group Romania.

In his new position Mr. Philippe Nottez will replace Mr. Pierre GILBERT as General Manager of the Renault STA Ruitz plant and will report to Mr. Patrice HAETTEL, VP, North-East Industrial Cluster.
