2,500,000 Vehicles Manufactured by the Dacia Plant in Pitesti

On Tuesday February 8, the Dacia plant in Pitesti manufactured the no. 2,500,000 vehicle. The Logan 1.4 Preference, pearl gray, with the carcass no 33076155 had left the assembly line in the presence of its happy owner, Mr. Dorel Andries from Bacau.

The industrial platform, which was fully modernised since Dacia was taken over by Renault in 1999 with an investment of over 489 million Euros, is now at the highest European standards. The Pitesti Plant started the year with an ambitious objective: to double its daily vehicle output, from a capacity of 460 vehicles per day at the end of 2004 to 750 cars a day in the second quarter of this year. To meet this challenge, besides the permanent effort to improve its productivity, the plant introduced also the third shift, which became operational in the second week of February. To improve the quality level Dacia has adopted the control method developed by the Renault-Nissan Alliance (AVES - Alliance Vehicle Evaluation System).

With an output of 94,720 vehicles in 2004 Dacia has achieved an almost 38% increase compared to the year 2003. The growth will continue in 2005, in parallel with the penetration of the Logan model at the international level, which should enable the Dacia Plant in Pitesti to reach an output of approximately 175,000 cars. The development of the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) collection expeditions to other plants, which will manufacture the Logan model (first in Russia and Morocco, than Iran and Columbia), will be another factor of growth.

Dacia - the brand around which the car industry was created and developed in Romania - was born in 1968 in Colibasi, County of Arges. In the 37 years of activity Dacia has developed a characteristic range of cars and utility vehicles for the Romanian landscape. Among the models manufactured in the Pitesti plant, there are: Dacia 1100 (under R8 license), Dacia 1300 (under R12), Dacia Break, Dacia Pick-Up, Dacia Nova, etc. Starting from 1999 with the support of the Renault Group Dacia has renewed and modernised its range of vehicles, adding to it the SupeRNova, Solenza and the Logan model, launched in 2004.
